I then get messages in windows about "this device may perform faster" (the usb 2.0 in 1.1 port message). There are 7 ports, but I'd avoid using hard drives or ready boost usb flash drives. Plugged directly into the same port gets me closer to 180Mbps.There are also multiple disconnects where the hub just drops out and reconnects. The chance of a disconnect is too high and could cause data corruption. I bought this hub to use with my external hard drives. The hub provides poor performance in USB 2.0 mode with hard drives. The max I get usually is 64Mbps through this hub.
That would be difficult to do with some of the odd shaped units on the market. We secured one with cable ties like electricians use. The hub works as described. It is easy to mount or install due to its boxy shape.
2.0 -1.0 whatever.I plug things in and out, I don't eject things, and I don't even have the DC power converter for itI'm buying another for a different computer. I plug so much junk into this USB hub. It is a Beast Buy this. digital cameras, digital video cameras, external hard drives, card readers, trackball mouses (mice)., keyboards, digital video interfaces. nothing has ever phazed it.
HAVE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS. PLUGGED IT IN AND PLUGGED ALL DEVICES IN. AM ALMOST READY TO GET ONE FOR MY 2ND COMPUTOR.DICKSTER----------------- BOUGHT ONE IN FEB. 09.
The one thing I wish it had was some mechanism to allow for stacking such as clips or screw holes through them or similar I ended up wrapping my 3 hubs in tape to accomplish the job. Works fine. It's what you would expect a USB hub to be. I bought 3 of them for a USB drive duplicator I was making.
